Clare
The new church
There is strong determination that the final contract for building the new church will be signed by early November. Meanwhile estimates are being studied—almost inevitably higher than feared, so that some paring down of plans has to be done.
Kevin Lowry
has joined the community, having spent some years working in the Lancaster diocese, and is expected to spend three months there.
Kitchenette
At the domestic level, the income from Sister Eileen’s tombola stall at the craft fair in summer has provided funds for a new kitchenette at the end of the priory dining room.
San Gimignano
A combined Harborne / Broomhouse group spent a week in San Gimignano, enjoying the pilgrimage, Leccetto, holiday, pasta and gelato: elements that make up the San Gimignano experience.
Elderly ladies are now heard quoting St Augustine over their coffee in the parish centre.
Delfio Lopez Cordova OSA has been helping in the priory for some time and will be ordained to the priesthood at home in Peru by Bishop Daniel T Turley OSA on 12 November.
Our Postulants in Broomhouse
Our three postulants (they are no longer ‘pre-novices’, having completed that stage) spent the weekend of 29/30 October in the Broomhouse, Edinburgh parish along with Bernard O’Connor, to promote vocations and the Augustinian Student Guild.
They were given a warm welcome by the community of friars and entertained royally. They were also given a typically Scottish welcome by the parish community.
