Retreats at Clare Priory

Clare Priory, the "Mother House" of the Order in England and Scotland, offers a tranquil environment for those who wish to withdraw from their daily lives and find rest in the Lord.

The Community welcomes group retreats from other Parishes or organisations, and has Modern Facilities and sufficient accommodation to host larger groups.

The Community also welcomes individuals wishing to share in the daily life and prayer of the Priory or enjoy the house's grounds.

Individuals or groups are invited to the regular retreats held at the Priory throughout the year, and details of these can be found below.

Facilities

Clare Priory offers excellent facilities for individual or group retreats.

The Stable House offers 7 single rooms and 1 double room, all with en-suite and disabled facilities, and there are also two small meeting rooms for private prayer or small group work, and a small prayer room.

Alternatively, groups or individuals can stay in the Priory, with rooms that cater for small groups (2 larger bedrooms with 3 beds) or families (large room with 1 double and 2 singles). It also has 1 twin room.

Within the Priory groups can use the large meeting room, with views of the courtyard garden and church and grounds.

There is a library, with a video and TV, and a wealth of literature on spiritual matters.

There is a large kitchen and dining area and a hall that acts as a dining room for larger parties.

Groups can hold services within the Oratory (shown right) and Mass is said each day at 10:00a.m. (excluding Sundays and Holy Days). Individuals and groups are also welcome to join the Community in its daily prayer held in the Oratory.

The church is also open during the day for services or private prayer.

Offerings

The suggested offerings are £45 per person per overnight stay, £10 day visit, £12 day visit (with soup & roll lunch), or £15 day visit (with full lunch - Mon-Fri only).

It should be emphasised that these are suggested offerings only.

Guests are invited to give what they can, according to their circumstances, and the Community does not want anyone to feel excluded.
