Augustinian Youth Weekend, Edinburgh 2009

 

From 23-25 January, Burns Night weekend, a group of Augustinian youth from around Scotland, Birmingham and Southport met at St Joseph’s Parish in Broomhouse, Edinburgh, for a retreat weekend.  It was hosted by the group of young people from the parish who travelled to Sydney last summer for World Youth Day with the Augustinians.  The group has been meeting ever since to support each other in their faith, and with a combination of lively worship music, witnesses, reflective prayer and the group’s warm hospitality they hosted a fantastic weekend, witnessed here by Ewan Walker:

 

In January, I had the privilege of being invited to an Augustinian Youth event, which was hosted in my very own town of bonny ol’ Edinburgh. With young people coming and going all weekend, I had the chance to meet a lot of new people and have a lot of interesting discussions.

 

You might be wondering what we did during this weekend… well the concise answer is eat, sleep, eat, pray, eat, talk, worship, praise, eat, sleep, adoration, praise, worship and adoration!

 

Camping out for the weekend was certainly a different experience…  freezing in a sleeping bag at night due to Fr John cutting down the heating bill, but getting a feast for every meal! Awesome.

 

Would I do it again? Well there’s only one answer to that. ‘Yes Lord, Yes Lord, Yes Yes Lord. Amen. Amen. AMEN!!!
