Vocations Discernment Community News - November 2010
The discernment community (Mother of Good Counsel Community) began again in October. Last year we started with six, but by Christmas one had decided that he was not being called to priesthood or religious life and left. Of the remainder four have gone to Religious Orders and one is intending to go to the diocesan priesthood. We have four new members this year plus one from last year. Most are in their thirties, though we have a 21 year old Austrian theology student. The others, with rather varied backgrounds: two IT specialists, RE teacher, painter and decorator.
Last year was good though challenging. All but one of the group were leadership types, and so had quite an adjustment to make in learning how to live in community. I really admired their efforts and honesty, as they on occasion struggled to come to a mutual understanding. We had several retreat weekends to Clare, Harborne, Ars as well as regular in-house events. It was good to see them all growing through their experience. Please pray for them and for more workers in the vineyard.Stefan Park OSA
