LETTER OF THE PRIOR GENERAL, Release date: 12 Feb 2008

Dear Brothers,

 

I have the pleasure of informing you that today, Tuesday 12th February 2008; the Holy Father has nominated Father Michael Gregory Campbell, OSA of the English/Scottish Province as Bishop Coadjutor of Lancaster (England).

Father Michael Campbell was born in Larne, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland on the 2nd October 1941. He made his temporary profession on the 16th September 1963 and Solemn Vows on the 17th September 1966. He was later ordained a priest on the 16th September 1971.

 

He has ministered principally in England at Southport, Carlisle and London and for a short period in Nigeria. He is presently parish priest of St. Augustine’s Parish, Hammersmith, London and Prior of the community.

 

While offering my sincere best wishes to Father Michael and on behalf of the entire Order I pray that the Lord will bless and sustain him in this important calling to proclaim the Kingdom of God to the Church in Lancaster (area 2,900, population 1,200,000, Catholics 124,256, priests 179, permanent deacons 50, religious 178).
