Meeting of Provincials in San Diego

English-speaking Provincials from all over the world met in San Diego in February.

 

They discussed some issues that will be raised at the Intermediate General Chapter in Manila in September this year.  Vocations and formation are high on the agenda.

 

Inter-province collaboration is another emerging topic, including exchange of personnel, sharing of goods, finances.

 

The Prior General spoke of the tension between ministry, especially the staffing of parishes and the fostering of community life.

 

Many other matters were discussed.  The Prior General spoke of the need for friars to go to Cuba to assist the Church and to re-establish the Order.

 

The next meeting will be held in Dublin in February 2012.
