Gianni’s Art Exhibition

Gianni Notarianni OSA has had an exhibition of four of his paintings along with three other recent graduates of the Slade School of Fine Art during the week 18-27 November.  The title of the exhibition is ‘Abstract Investigations’ which took place at Macintyre Art Advisory in Duke Street, St, James, London.

The programme describes Gianni’s works as:

‘Translucent layers of high-gloss varnish mixed with rich oil colours; phthalo greens, crimson reds, ultra-marine blues and mars blacks, on aluminium and steel supports, all contribute to make highly reflective, shimmering and luminous works.

‘These paintings are the equivalent of the kind of sublime experiences nature provides; sunsets, reflections in water, deep space.  Above all, these painted surfaces are mysterious.’

Gianni’s own words are:

‘Each abstract space creates a different mood or atmosphere—what they have in common is, what I might call, a Romantic Minimalism.’

The studio places a price on each painting.  Gianni’s are valued at an average of £2,000 each.

Coincidentally, Pope Benedict spoke at some length to a gathering of artists on 21 November. He introduced his address saying,

"At this gathering I wish to express and renew the Church's friendship with the world of art, a friendship that has been strengthened over time; indeed Christianity from its earliest days has recognised the value of the arts and has made wise use of their varied language to express her unvarying message of salvation. This friendship must be continually promoted and supported so that it may be authentic and fruitful, adapted to different historical periods and attentive to social and cultural variations".
